Centre for Relational
Couples Therapy
‘Romantic love is the single greatest energy system in the western psyche. In our culture it has supplanted religion as the arena in which men and women seek meaning, transcendence, wholeness and ecstasy.’
Robert Johnson
The centre for relational
couples therapy in Stroud exists
to
promote relational couples therapy through
offering:
- Couples therapy (with one or
two therapists).
- Training in relational couples therapy (Certificate and
Diploma
level courses for qualified/experienced counsellors and
psychotherapists).
- Supervision (individually
and in groups).
- Continuing Professional Development (for practitioners already working with couples).
Couples therapy can be enormously helpful for couples who have longstanding difficulties or limitations between them and for issues that come up through life transitions. (For more details see Couples Therapy).
Training in relational couples therapy is for counsellors and psychotherapists who are already established in individual work and want to broaden their practice to work with couples, or those who are doing some couples work and want some further support and resourcing in their practice. The training is for between 6 and 12 people and will be taught by David Slattery.
There is a Certificate level course (Stages 1 and 2) and a Diploma
level course (Stage 3).The next start dates are:
Stage 1: September 2011
Stage 2: April 2012
Stage 3: February 2012
Details about the 3 Stages can be found in the course information pdf below.
Supervision is especially important in couples therapy due the highly complex intersubjective systems at play. CRCT provides both group and individual supervision. Both have their merits (see Supervision for more details).
Continuing Professional Development has become a post qualifying ‘must’, with many training/accrediting bodies requiring evidence of CPD to be provided at re-accreditation (see CPD for more details).
